Your name is an important part of your feminine identity.
Some names feel sweet and innocent, others are classic and elegant, and some carry an exotic or mysterious vibe.
As a crossdresser or trans woman, you have the unique privilege of choosing your own female name—a name that truly reflects who you are.
For many of you, there’s a special story behind your chosen name.
So, I’d love to know: What’s the meaning behind your feminine name?
Share your name and the story of how you chose it in the comments below.
I can’t wait to hear your story!
Love,
Lucille
Hi Lucille
My female namewas bestowed on me by the manager of a store I have done a lot of shopping in. It’s a take off my male name and also hers…I never gave it much thought but have kept it to say thanks to her.
Bobbi
i knew from the begining that i need a feminine name to be able to summerize all my femininity or something like that, so day after day and so on i was trying to find a name i went to baby name sights and everything…with no luck. So one day out of the blue i was Iming a friend of mine and he knew about me and i told him i needed a girl name and me and him came up with one…
Little did i know that the one name he came up with was Elizabeth, which actually was my mothers middle name and i was in totally shock and speechless. IT was perfect and i could help but feel giddy and giggle at mself for it, to this day i still love it. I even have a new middle and same last name cause i like my last name its very very unique.
how I chose my name?
I had a very simple, I was born as a Roman, and only adding the letter A to the end of male names, changing name to the female name in the Czech language 🙂
ROMANA
I asked my mom what she would have chosen…
and after considering it for a bit decided that it would just have to do like it would for any other girl out there.
Hi Lucille. I didn’t have a name for a long time, even though I did go out shopping en femme. I had toyed with names that began with “t”, because I could use the same initials as my real name. I liked the name Teri (as in actress Teri Hatcher), but never committed. One day, while shopping at TJ Maxx, the cashier asked me if I wanted to donate a dollar to a children’s hospital. I was taken by surprise, quickly said yes. She then handed me a piece of paper in the shape of the charity’s logo asked me to write my name (they posted all of these in the store). So, I tried not to hesitate, and wrote “Teri”. After that, I guess the name stuck with me.
~Teri
PS -Thank you for all you do
Hi everyone,
My given name is Theodore, pronounced as would be expected. I go by Ted whenever I am in that mode. However, when not Ted, I am Dori, which is a version of Theodore, which Dori pronouces (Tay-a-doray)…shortened to Dori. Nothing more than a version of my given name…sorry.
Dori
Before I was born the parents had two names for me, and “Jeannine” was the girl’s name.
I enjoy having the girl’s name, “Jeannine”.
It was picked for me, I did not choose it.
thank you!
Jeannine
Before I was born, the parents had a boy’s name and a girl’s name for me. When I was young I got teased that “Jeannine” would have been my name if I was born a girl.. I have always thought of myself as Jeannine. It is spelled differently and you do not see that spelling too much. So the name ‘Jeannine’ was picked for me, as I did not choose it!
