Do you want to look younger, prettier, and more feminine? If so, try changing your hairstyle! There’s no easier way to improve your appearance.
What are the best male to female haircuts and styles?
I’m glad you asked!
The most flattering and feminizing hairstyles are ones that help soften strong facial features (like a prominent nose or jaw) while making your eyes and lips pop!
Read on to discover the top 6 MTF transgender hairstyles. Note that these style tips work for both wigs and natural hair.
1. Side Swept Bangs
Bangs are a great option since they draw attention to your eyes while hiding a prominent brow ridge. Bangs also make you look cute and youthful!
Straight bangs can highlight angular facial features, so go for soft, side swept bangs instead.
2. Layers
Layered hairstyles tend to be much more flattering than hair that’s all one length. Face framing layers soften your features and add texture and volume to your hair.
3. Soft Waves
Soft waves are super sexy and feminine. Waves also add volume to your hair, making thin hair appear fuller.
Most trans women and crossdressers look great with full, wavy hair that balances out stronger facial features and a larger body frame.
4. Shoulder Length Hair
Shoulder length hair is the best option for most women, including transgender women. Hair that’s too short can look masculine, while hair that’s too long can drag down your face after a certain age.
Shoulder length hair is very feminine and flattering. Additionally, it helps conceal a stronger jaw or thicker neck (if these are issues for you).
5. Side Parts
Middle parts can be tricky since they make your face look longer and highlight your nose and chin. Side parts are more flattering and can be worn by anybody with any face shape.
6. Highlights
Finally, don’t forget about color! Highlights brighten your face and look softer than a single block of color. Generally speaking, your highlights should be two shades lighter than your base color for the most natural look.
Make everyday a good hair day!
Nothing can boost your appearance like a fabulous hairstyle. As you can see from the tips above, the key is to think SOFT – soft cuts, soft texture, and soft color – to balance and feminize your features.
Hair is an important topic, so I’d love to hear from you!

I use a medium length brown wig and I believe it is most comfortable. To me it makes me think of my mother.
I tend to wear my (natural) hair quite long and have it done at the salon every 4-6 weeks. Sadly, it doesn’t stay so nice for long! I feel great on the day anyway.
I have clear white hair in a short form, this is more practical for living at a most windy coast.
I guess I have good instincts; I’ve been following all of these suggestions except highlights for a long time! I will try some mild highlights soon, thanks Lucille!
I found a terrific wig at Paula’s that is perfect. I don’t have much of my own hair. However, being bi-sexual, the wig comes off when we make love. It just gets in the way. But when we go out, I get compliments on it.
Have the same problem, I’va found nice looking frames that could be either for male or female at eyebuydirect.com, you can try them to see how would they look on you; they are lot less expensive than local eyeglass stores. Two frames I favor, Sweet Jane and Annabelle. Good luck.
I have had bob variations for about 8 years. Being blessed with good hair I’ve almost always had long hair and people would just get used to it. In my mid forties I was thinking maybe I should get a cut. I told a friend of mine who suggested I let her do it and she dared me to let her cut a straight across blunt bob… (she knew of my dressing). It was a huge shock but now it’s all I wear. I can use strong gel or other hair products so I can slick it back and essentially hide it(until i went Inverted). This and panties is a way to express “Carla” in subtle way. This relieves so much stress from suppressing this part of me.
Years ago I read somewhere to Camouflage your Male Features to look for certain things in a Wig.
First was avoid Short Hair Wigs
Look for one that covers your Neck and Jaw Line, sweeps along the Jaw near the ear.
Look for one that can combed with Bangs if needed to cover Male forehead.
Look for a color that complements you, for some reason everyone wants to be a Blonde, I went a shade or two lighter than my natural Dark Brown.
And last,..one that is long enough to sit on the Shoulders, even alittle bit to “Break Up” the width of Male Shoulders, mine comes down about 3 inches onto my back making my Shoulders look smaller.
It’s all about Illusion.
