Do you want to look younger, prettier, and more feminine? If so, try changing your hairstyle! There’s no easier way to improve your appearance.
What are the best male to female haircuts and styles?
I’m glad you asked!
The most flattering and feminizing hairstyles are ones that help soften strong facial features (like a prominent nose or jaw) while making your eyes and lips pop!
Read on to discover the top 6 MTF transgender hairstyles. Note that these style tips work for both wigs and natural hair.
1. Side Swept Bangs
Bangs are a great option since they draw attention to your eyes while hiding a prominent brow ridge. Bangs also make you look cute and youthful!
Straight bangs can highlight angular facial features, so go for soft, side swept bangs instead.
2. Layers
Layered hairstyles tend to be much more flattering than hair that’s all one length. Face framing layers soften your features and add texture and volume to your hair.
3. Soft Waves
Soft waves are super sexy and feminine. Waves also add volume to your hair, making thin hair appear fuller.
Most trans women and crossdressers look great with full, wavy hair that balances out stronger facial features and a larger body frame.
4. Shoulder Length Hair
Shoulder length hair is the best option for most women, including transgender women. Hair that’s too short can look masculine, while hair that’s too long can drag down your face after a certain age.
Shoulder length hair is very feminine and flattering. Additionally, it helps conceal a stronger jaw or thicker neck (if these are issues for you).
5. Side Parts
Middle parts can be tricky since they make your face look longer and highlight your nose and chin. Side parts are more flattering and can be worn by anybody with any face shape.
6. Highlights
Finally, don’t forget about color! Highlights brighten your face and look softer than a single block of color. Generally speaking, your highlights should be two shades lighter than your base color for the most natural look.
Make everyday a good hair day!
Nothing can boost your appearance like a fabulous hairstyle. As you can see from the tips above, the key is to think SOFT – soft cuts, soft texture, and soft color – to balance and feminize your features.

I guess I’ve been doing something right…lol. I wear wigs and always perfered bangs. This wig is ‘Kris’ from the Jaclyn Smith line. All of my wigs have a side swept bang that allows the option of pulling the bangs down. Being a part-time cross dresser I cannot wear a feminine style for my real hair. My suggestion to my sisters would be don’t waste your money on those cheap wigs from places like Fredericks or some of these transgender stores. I buy affordable wigs from Paula Young, The Wig Salon and Beautytrends. There are others so do your research and spend your money wisely! All my hugs Lucille, Stephani :~)
Hi Stephani, Ur comments make lots of sense to me. Some stores selling wigs in my country have started selling ‘cheap’ very long, impractical styles that look very drag queenish. I favour your style and rely on trying to look natural rather than glitzy or too “look at me!” Another aspect I like about ur image is that it is a big mistake IMHO to try to look younger than our age. Mature women are classy, sweet, oh so feminine and have style that can & does out do styles that are confected, dishonest and undermine our self confidence. I believe we need to primp, tweek, preen and continuously make minor adjustments as we go along. By being patient with ourselves we can experiment and learn what truly suits our individuality and not some manufactured, fashionhouse recipe that is churned out by trashy, cheap magazine/media manipulative, global corporate sector. I love modesty too as many girls need to tread cautiously as there are still hurtful, nasty, dangerous individuals and groups who want to set us back. Your advice was measured and sensible. I got alot from ur recommendations and agree with you. I love ur hair and smile. Gr8 presentation. Thankyou so much. Kindest regards! Jayne.
Yes, you can always find bargains on clothes and makeup – but it pays to invest in a great wig.
Hi I love the long and blond, it is all my natural hair no coloring or styling, this is how it comes, I say never to long or blond. I really think you also need the attitude to pull off the younger styles.

Thanks for this great advice. Photo is the best that can be done with my own hair (I do look like my mother!) but I now keep it shorter and wear a shoulder-length dark wig.
Hi Lucille,
Love your tips/advice. I’m one of the lucky ones I am not suffering from Male Pattern Baldness and have quite nice head of hair. I had a Hairpiece fitted when I first Stepped Out because I wanted instant long hair. I am now thinking of having it removed and then have my own hair Coloured/styled, a bit shorter, say to shoulder length?. Trouble is I like the look/style I have at the moment and I am afraid to change it in case in does not suit me. If I do change it and don’t like it, is there anything I can do to hide it. How would a GG go about choosing a new style?.
Hugs/Kisses,
Helen.

Hi everyone
I have to wear a wig as my hair has receded a bit at the front. If anybody knows how to get it back with out surgery that would be great. I went for long wavey auburn wigs, just because I liked them lol

I am a CD who has to use wigs due to hair loss. I recently took my en femme pics. and found out I look much better and more passable as a redhead than as a blonde. I am naturally a blonde so this perplexes me.
I’ve been letting my hair grow out for years, and I’m at the point where I need to start cutting it back… I still have some trouble taming the frizz some days. Most of the time I just keep it in a ponytail, sometimes doubled over to control the length. I’ve been wanting to get it colored or highlighted, but haven’t gotten around to it.
