It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
I was named for my father as a Junior.
This created Daniel George Jr.
When he was growing up my father was known around his village as “Georgie” which I heard him being called by his aunt (born in 1889) as late as he was 45 years old.
As I came along in 1959, with the adults I became (Little) “Georgie” while my Dad was (Big) “George.” And that was in person to all of my paternal relatives and everybody else on both sides we saw frequently.
That lasted until I was almost 40 years old, until my father passed away in 1999.
Later on my employer was and remains a stickler about specificity with names because they claim our contracts create security sensitivity on the federal level.
When I began to transition, the company wanted official, definitive re-naming information ASAP. They also asked if at all possible could I preserve my existing initials (GC), as this was how the confident information I generated for the previous 20 years was archived, in the event there was any future scrutiny.
Putting both issues together, my selected name became a transformation of “Georgie” (which I had actually considered for years ahead).
My middle name (Carmette) is a variation of my mom’s. It also then enabled me to complete the court-required application process within just two months, satisfying all interested parties.
Ergo was created and certified “Gigi Carmette” on May 15, 2023!
I originally changed the spelling of my first and middle names to the feminine spelling. I changed it to a more cutesy kinda name and took my Mrs.’ last name to honor her. The more feminine I become, the more feminine I tend to think like. Mistress loves it and so do I. God bless everyone!

I am a redhead so used ginger dropped last 3 letters and used first 3 letters of my male name to get Ginjer, Sinclair is clan name. My wife brilliantly devised this.
My mother and her best friend were pregnant at the same time, due a couple weeks apart. I was “supposed to be a girl” and moms friend was “supposed to have a boy”
When we both came out opposite to what they were expecting they just traded names.
I just traded back… I always liked the sound of Melissa over my birth name anyway!
I found the the Scottish female variant of John on the internet. Love it. It started as Jonnie but everyone had trouble with that. One day at a coffee place they were taking my order, when I got it the tag said Joni. I love it, feels so natural. Still bouncing it off my middle name “Fitzpatrick”, but hey…
My wife brilliantly devised my name. As red head I love the name Ginger so she took last 3 letters and replaced them with male name to get Ginjer and Sinclair is my clan name so went with that.
It’s been a work in progress. I started with Jocelyn; I thought it was both pretty and uncommon. Then I ran across Alessandra and loved it too, so I tacked it on. It’s a girl’s prerogative to change her mind, right?
I took the name Robin rebel due to my mother told me had I been born female she’d have named me Robin and rebel because of my rebellious ways
I go by Ricky ~ formerly richard
I kept the original spelling
