It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!

Lucille
As a child I loved the name Suzanne. It was the title of a beautiful Harry Belafonte song, and I had a classmate, Suzanne Klausner, who was tall and gorgeous with beautiful curly hair and I looked up to her (literally). As I grew older I came to love the nickname “Suzy.” I always wanted it to be the name of a daughter if I ever had one, but when I discovered myself I decided to take it for my own.
Thank you, Lucille, for such a wonderfully personal question!
Dear Lucille. My name is Eric and male celebrating May 18 I wanted did not completely pick my female name because it is imposed on us. So I chose another name celebrated on the same day: Corinne. My second and third names are Sandrine and Laurianne. They were donated by my beautiful sister after having concentrated on my qualities … A second baptism in short.
OK this is my second attempt! ha ha. I wasnt sure what name I liked at first. So I tried names on like buying a new pair of shoes. One day while looking at myself in the mirror the name Lacey just popped into my head. Not only did I like it. But I think it is very fitting of my appearance and demeanor. My last name Cox is my given birth name. And is not suggestive of anything as with some porn stars.
Huggs and Love Lucille,
Lacey
My grandfather had a half-sister (from his father’s first wife) born in 1862. Elizabeth attended Holyoke College, and was mentoring a freshman woman, whom she brought home for Thanksgiving weekend, since the girls parents lived too far away. The young lady and Elizabeth’s father got on, as the British might say, “like a house afire”. Eventually they married, and that young woman was my grandfather’s mother. Elizabeth was so angered that she disowned her father, and changed her last name to her mother’s maiden name. She never married, and never seemed to have even any beaux. As a child, I always thought there must be more to the story than anyone was telling. After my father died, I found a diary in which, although she never came right out and said it, it was clear that Elizabeth was in a lesbian ménage a trois for at least twenty years. I suspect that she was hoping the woman she was mentoring would become a paramour. Since the family had disowned her, as she did them, I felt it only fitting that I should take her name. My initials are DEB, so selecting a melodious first name led me to the combination, Dorothy Elizabeth. My friends call me Dorothy, Elizabeth, Liz, or Lizzie, but never Beth. Some of them have accused me of being dotty, though. 🙂
Well choosing my name was simple for me you see when I was born I was named Eved Shirley Owen, I was named after my father and mother. So it was easy I am just using my real given name.
How convenient! I envy your good fortune.
I was advised to begin with a famous female that I admired. My favorite female comedian is Tina Fey. While I don’t care for the name Tina, I do like the name Sara. I chose Anne as a middle name after my therapist and my Mother’s maiden name was Fay. As time goes by, I like Sara Anne Fay more and more.
My name wasn’t decided on until about a year before I changed it. I had solicited help from several cis gender women friends of mine. All the names just didn’t seem to fit or roll off the tongue. So one day I was looking at my male nickname Alan on the white board and I did like the name as a male. The it hit me! Alaina! I was always fond of my sister and I had dated girls named Elaine. Elaine was my sisters middle name. She passed away 7 years ago and in her honor I took her middle name. Her initials were AEN and mow my initials are AEN. I decided to keep my last name as it is a good name with great reputation. So the name rolls off the tongue and is sexy. Alaina Elaine.
I change my name legally 18 months ago and have been living full time as a woman! Life is good!
Well I tried several different names. But they just didnt seem to fit my apperance or demeanor. Finally one day while looking at myself for a good while. The name Lacey just hit me. I not only liked it! But to me! It just seemed to be very fitting!
I wold like to know your opinion!
