It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
The 1st name of my “legal persona” is James…..as a child I was often teased for my unmasculine demeanor…..so I never liked “Jamie”…instead, I call myself Janie. Its a long story about my last name, involving questionable sirehood, but my last name should really be Butts,
but I spell it; Buttz, as it is more numerologically correct with my birthday, and reflects my transgender status……
It was one of my high school girlfriends I loved. I’ll treasure her forever.
My Aunt Barbara’s family is descended from William Wallace. I wanted a Scottish Name to celebrate that heritage Fiona is an Scottish name that was popular in the 1950s. Catherine is also a Scottish name that was popular in the 1950s. Therefore I came up with Fiona Catherine. I kept my last name.
I think Erika chose me…when I was younger in my male mode, my friends came up with the name Eric when we partied. That way if we got into “trouble” our alter egos would get blamed. One night I went out dressed, Tina was my female name at the time, I ran into one of my friends. After an awkward moment or two he called me Erika. Needless to say we had a fun night and had many more after that first”date”. I loved the name and it has stuck ever since. I did changed the c to a k just to be different.
I have been thinking of adding a middle name but I haven’t found one that would flow. So if anyone has a thought on what would work, let me know!
Hugs to all the ladies!
Thanks to you Lucille for a great forum!
Thought for a few minutes and I thought Danielle, Daniella, Marissa , or Melissa
I picked my name from a former girl friend. She dressed me as a women for holloween while she dressed as a guy. I really liked my outfit and I looked good. Actually passable back then.I never felt like that before.Something I’ll always remember. She shaved my legs and did all my makeup. Picked out my outfit. Even had a wig. That was one night I wished would never end.
My male name is Dennis so Denise was a natural fit because I am still me regardless of which gender I am.
I adopted an exact opposite last name because I am now the opposite gender to what I used to be.
Believing that Japanese are the most beautiful women in the world I chose a Japanese Name Aki which means Autumn child which is when I was born. This is very common in Japan.
I Tried So, So many Names On For Size; None Of Them “Seemed To Fit!” Then One Day I Saw A Cute, Delicate Gold Necklace That Spelled Out Victoria With A Small Rhinestone Star Over The 1st i & A Small Rhinestone Heart Over The 2nd i And I Fell In Love With It! I Bought The Necklace, And Made The Star & Heart Part Of My “Feminine Signature!”
I Have Been “Victoria” (So Elegant, Feminine & “Traditional”) Ever Since AND I Love The Nickname “Vickie” Since It Also Has An i For The Star & An i For The Heart! Folks Who get To Know Me Call Me “Vickie, The Party Girl!”
It Is A Tiny Bit Humorous That I Always Turn & Look When I Am Out As A Male And Someone Says Or Calls Out, “Victoria….”
Wonderful story Victoria.
