If you want to learn how to feminize yourself, mastering your movements is a big part of your feminine image.
But what if you feel like you could use a little help in the “grace” department?
The good news is that there are some simple techniques for feminizing your body movements, whether you are a crossdresser or a transgender woman.
In this blog post, I’ll share 7 simple tips to make your gestures and overall deportment more graceful and feminine. Let’s get started!
1. Slow Down
It’s common to speed up your movements when you feel nervous or self-conscious. This can make you appear jerky and clumsy.
To look more poised, avoid rushed movements. Every move you make should be deliberate and precise. Take your time as you sit down, stand up, gesture, and reach for things.
2. Keep Your Knees Together And Your Elbows In
I’m sure you’ve heard this from Day 1, but it’s easy to let old habits slip in, especially if you spend most of your time in “guy mode.” That’s why it’s important to be mindful of keeping your knees together and your elbows in.
When you keep your knees together, you’ll exude that ladylike elegance, especially when sitting.
Why elbows in? Well, when your limbs are spread out all over the place, it’s easy to be clumsy. So, by keeping your elbows close to your body, you’ll instantly make your gestures more graceful. Simple as that!
3. Stretch Out
It’s impossible to move gracefully if you have a tense and tight body. That’s one reason why dancers spend so much time stretching.
You too should make stretching part of your normal routine – particularly before you present yourself as a woman. Here’s a 10 minute full-body stretching routine you can try:
4. Don’t Fidget
Fidgeting makes you look awkward and insecure, so avoid nervous movements like:
- Twirling your hair
- Biting your nails
- Shaking your leg
- Tapping your fingers
- Compulsively checking your phone
Instead, practice the art of graceful stillness! You will look confident and in control of yourself.
By the way, fidgeting isn’t the only body language mistake to avoid. See my post on 27 MTF Body Language Mistakes to Avoid for a Flawless Feminine Image to learn more.
5. Study Graceful Women
There’s a lot to be learned from studying poised, elegant women. Pay attention to the way they move and carry themselves in public.
See the video below for a fabulous example of the ever-graceful Marilyn Monroe. Notice how elegantly she sits and stands, how deliberate her gestures are, and how she never fails to keep her knees together.
6. Take Dance Classes
If you’re really serious about becoming a graceful, elegant woman, then I highly recommend taking dance classes. The grace and coordination you’ll learn through dancing will carry over into your day-to-day life.
Any type of dance class is helpful, be it belly dance, salsa, or ballet. If you’re shy about showing up for instruction en femme, take salsa classes in “male mode.” You’ll still get some awesome hip movement training!
7. Practice
Finally, remember that being graceful takes practice. I recommend practicing your movements and gestures in front of a mirror. Or, better yet, record a video of yourself so you can evaluate your movements objectively.
Here are some specific movements to practice:
- Sitting down
- Standing up
- Gesturing as you speak
- Greeting other people with a hand shake or air kiss
- Table manners
- Getting into and out of a car
What do your movements say about you?
You might not be able to change your height or the overall shape of your body, but the good news is that you have a lot of control over your body movements.
Use these 7 tips to become a more graceful, elegant woman!
Now I’d love to hear from YOU on this topic.

Marilyn Monroe is so SEXY in this clip! I try to ‘saunter’ when I walk and it’s quite a bit easier in heels. I try not to sway my hips, but simply rock my hips forward with each step…gaffing helps this as well. Slow movements, wrists up and fingers extended seem to project femininity. Thanks for all your advice! Kisses always, Anita

These seven tips are being put into practice in my life now and being on your mailing list is amazing to get reassurance that I am on track. Unfortunately I do not have the funds for dance classes or voice lessons yet but there is a wealth of information on the internet to get a decent start. I guess the rest is just time and determination- ofcourse hormones help to :] lol
Once again, you’re so right on Lucille,
When I’m away on a business trip and have my first full day set to be out ALL day as Cathy, I finish dressing in my hotel room, and then plan on just 20-30 minutes before I leave my room to simply relax, take slower breaths, sit on a chair or couch in the room and cross my ankles, then my legs, practice keeping my elbows in and hands gently folded on my lap. I get a glass of water and practice taking very slow, deliberate sips. Then I stand slowly, walk casually/slowly from one end of the room to other, back again, being very aware to take smaller steps, move my hips, keep my shoulders back and my chest out and hands swinging gently.
Even though I’m so excited to be completely in female mode in every way from my flat-ironed hair and bangs, to my make-up and perfume, to my silky smooth legs and nail polish, to my outfit and maxi-pad tucked tight in my panties, I HAVE to slow down, take it easy, relax, and get into very feminine mindset.
Then I can slowly head out my room’s door, no nervous looking around or looking down, but confident, head up, eyes making contact with those I pass by, “wear a small smile on my face all the time”, slow steps and sway my hips gently walking to the elevators. Smile at others when I get in, or when they step in on other floors. Slow deliberate walk across the main lobby, allow the doorman to hold the door for me and smile/look right at him and say “thank you” in a gentle, soft tone.
When I get into my car, I do it slowly with a gentle pivot to glide into my seat, then bring both legs in at the same time as I spin forward slowly. Let anyone/everyone hold doors for me as I enter buildings. Let salespeople get things off of higher shelves for me. Think “weakling” so as to not pick up anything heavy or move a heavy table/chair with one hand, but always let someone else help or do it for me.
Knees together when I sit. Slow sips of my water or juice or coffee. Slow gentle cutting of my food before each bite. Small portions, easy gentle chewing, slow pace (no wolfing food down).
I achieved amazing success with Flat2Fem (see my June-2014 photo on the post-topic of “Creating Cleavage with Nu-Bra” – so I love to let others get regular looks at my soft, round breasts and cleavage above my neckline, keeping my shoulders back, telling myself to “be confident” and “very feminine” in mind and body.
Excellent 7 Tips Lucille! Thanks again,
-Cathy
Hi Cathy,

Wonderful advice. Could not agree more. Stretching and fitness classes are so helpful. I have undertaken ballet that helps body and mind embrace femininity.
Your tips are ALWAYS so helpful! I’ve read your suggestions about knees and elbows before and it does make a huge difference not only in how I look but how I feel more like the woman I am! I am looking forward to working on these movements. These vids are a big help. You rock!
I try walk slow down . I take yago class. I take some dance class to and I have fun dance like a woman .
Good point! You also have to have FUN with this! 🙂
Hello again Lucille; I started four (4) years ago with your Flat-2-Fem and all of your tips for a Transgender has helped me more and more that I follow them on a daily bases. Thank you again for all of the tips they have been so helpful in becoming this wonderful and very happy women that I have become. The keeping my legs together is the one that I am working real hard on. Wearing mini skirts with hi heels is helping. wearing skinny jeans is another thing. The sitting down at a bar or club on a bar stool is also allot of fun but again I am learning along with your tips and advice.
Thank you again
Dawn
