Stepping out publicly as a woman is a powerful way to validate your female self.
In fact, I recently published a poll asking “How often do you go out in public as a woman?”
I was happy to see that the majority of my readers (transgender women and crossdressers) go out at least occasionally.
No matter how often you do it, I’m sure you can remember your first time presenting as a woman or crossdressing in public.
Since this is such an important gender-affirming step, I’d love to hear about it!
When was it? Where did you go? And what was your experience?
Please share with us in the comments below!
And if you’ve never been en femme in public, I’m sure you’ll find lots of inspiration in these stories.
As always, thank you for reading and participating!
Love,
Lucille

Hi my first embarrassing time dressed was around Christmas time.I had just had my hair done and also my nails so I decided to go to the big box store for some last minute stocking stuffers. I shopped through the store as usual looking at clothes in no hurry everything was going fine till checkout. This was not my first time at this store but because it was the holiday seasons they had extra new people helping I was greeted and said Hi that when the two ladies at checkout looked at each other and started laughing I knew it wasn’t the way I was dressed and knew I was looking ok from the other two places I had been both committing on how great I looked. I knew it was my voice which made me more self aware and I just wanted to walk out especially as the lades were whispering and laughing as they looked at me. I paid and was glad to leave the manager stopped me and said she had seen what happened and my tears she was very polite and asked what she could do I briefly explained that I was in transition she said the ladies involved would informed and put on notice I asked her to just talk with them I didnt want them in trouble. I had left my number with the manager and a fee days after Christmas I received a call from the ladies apologizing. So long story short ladies try the voice program Lucille has to offer I know I am
Thanks Laurie
Thank you Laurie for sharing your story with a happy ending .. I will try Lucille’s voice program
This wasn’t my first time out, but was rather funny. A few years ago I was going through TSA and got randomly picked for a pat down. I had dressed as a male but everything underneath was female. My plan was to change into my fem clothing after security. I had on a bulky sweatshirt so it wasn’t obvious that I had on a bra with breast forms in. The TSA agent started patting me down, when he started to pat my breasts he backed off and said OMG I’m sorry let me ge a female agent. I didn’t have a chance to say anything. I went to a closed room. I explained what I was doing about changing later to fem. She said let me pat you down and then we can let you change in here. She got my suitcase and brought it in. She then gave me her card and said to call and they would not have a problem with me dressing fem and having a male ID. She was really nice and it was a great being in the airport in heels and fem attire.

I have never been out in public dressed as a woman. I want to achieve this in 20223 it is my goal. Some of my fiends and family don’t like the thought of me being me who I am and this hurts me sop much, but I am trying to stay positive and I want to be a beautiful woman every minute of every day looking sexy feeling sexy and looking feminine as best as I can. We all deserve happiness and I have a lot of shopping to do this year I can’t wait. x
As a transwoman, I went “full time” over a year and a half ago and honestly, I’m not entirely sure of the exact first time was, as I began crossdressing in my teens; before being a transperson was even an idea. I think my first time in public was while I was in the army in the 1980s. I was on leave and driving from Ft Benning to the Presidio of Monterrey for language school and I did the entire drive enfemme. In retrospect, this was probably unwise, due to safety concerns, but I had no issues and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The only down side was having to change from being Marcie to my dead name and getting back into a uniform instead of the pretty clothes I had been wearing.
Do not remember my first time dressed out in public, but my most memorable time was in October of 2016. I bought a ticket for a train from Indianapolis to Chicago and only packed feminine clothing. The unbelievable feeling of knowing that as soon as the train moved I had no choice but to continue. Got to Chicago and rented a car and a hotel room. Spent several nights there and then rode the train back home. My wife was gone on a trip and I actually spent around a week and a half in total female mode. I went to the nail salon and got the acrylic French nails so I could not take them off myself. Had to go back for them to remove. What a GREAT 10 days. Wish I could live that way full time!!
On a business trip thought it best since I was in the car for 8hours. Didn’t think of the bathroom and gas stops until I was already on the road so just had to do it. Had a couple of gentlemen hold a door for me in an area that most likely was not LGBT friendly, especially in the early 2000s
My very first time was as result of a dressing service in Frankfurt a.m., Germany in 2005. 3 other expired CDs were there, and knew about a drag show in town. The lady, owner of the dressing service change my outfit, I took a deep breath, and went out in public. (Missing enclosure the photo from then). A phantastic evening ending at my hotel at 03 a.m. – stopped by the – very friendly – police on our way home. Meet by a very friendly doorman at my hotel, who smiled and wished me a wonderful night.
