Did you know that your body language makes up more than half of the impression you make on others?
That’s a big part of your feminine image as a crossdresser or transgender woman!
Body language comes down to four key elements: your posture, gestures, eye contact, and facial expressions.
Unfortunately, it’s easy to develop bad body language habits that can undermine a poised and polished appearance.
In this blog post, I’ll share 27 MTF body language mistakes to avoid when presenting yourself as a woman.
27 MTF Body Language Mistakes to Avoid for a Flawless Feminine Image
- Slouching
- Constantly checking your phone (this is a biggie!)
- Biting your nails
- Rummaging through your purse
- Crossing your arms
- Fidgeting
- Shaking your leg or tapping your fingers
- Not smiling
- Scanning the room while speaking with somebody
- Talking too much with your hands
- Exaggerated nodding
- Examining your teeth or face in public
- Applying makeup in public (other than a quick swipe of lipstick)
- Resting your chin on your hands and elbows
- Sitting with your legs apart
- Clanging your silverware
- Avoiding eye contact
- Eye contact that is too intense
- A weak handshake
- Clenching your fists
- Standing too close to people
- Chewing loudly
- Talking while you eat
- Eating or drinking too fast
- Bending towards your food instead of bringing the food to your mouth
- Leaning forward too much
- Leaning back too much
Phew, that’s quite a list, isn’t it? Some of these might seem obvious, but let’s be real – we’ve all witnessed these behaviors in public!
Are you making any of these mistakes? If so, don’t feel bad. (I’ve had to work on some of these myself!) Instead, resolve to improve them.
For fun, do a “body language study” the next time you’re out in public. Notice the subtle actions that enhance or detract from people’s images.
Can you think of any other habits that should be added to this list?
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please share in the comments below.

I always found the way you stand is a biggy. I have taken many a gal out of the closet for her first public outings. If you stand like a truck driver or you just got off your horse is a dead giveaway.
Thank you so much for your good instructions, Lucille.
Thank you also Jocelyn and Brianna and others for your tips. I’m just a beginner in this sense and I desperate need this kind of guidance.
Thank you again ❤️
Walking with long steps
If a woman wants to correct make up, she must go to restroom and do it in front of a mirror
And come back to her table without any problem of this.

Thank you Margo
I love who I am and what I have become. I read everything Lucille publishes and bought some of her wonderful courses. I chuckled at her list, remembering how I had so many of those traits. As I learned to accept myself an embrace myself as the woman I am, I ditched them. I love this forum as well.
A woman should avoid taking strides that are too long when walking…especially when wearing heels. On the other end of the spectrum, I think it’s seriously sexy when a woman touches up her lipstick at the table after a meal, especially if she uses a glide-on, rather than wand-applied, lipstick. VERY suggestive if you want to turn a man on–if you know what I mean. 😉
One thing I learned while taking feminine deportment training is how to stand properly, in a more feminine manner, especially when posing for photos. Instead of standing with feet pointing forward at shoulder width, try turning your left foot at a 45 degree angle outwards and place your right heel against your left foot. This creates a very feminine posture.
Just the other day i was at a counter and a woman and her slender seven year old daughter were also. The young girl had one leg almost completely wrapped around the other. When I told them I wshed I could do that, I got big happy smiles from both.
I wear lipstick every day and I’ve found that you can’t help smiling when you have lipstick on
