It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
My name is Jenna. I chose my name out of admiration from two characters in movies and television. Jenna was derived from Gemma Teller, but wanting to keep the first initial of my male name and substituting “N’s” for the center, Jenna was born. My last name was taken from my favorite ‘Shield” agents, Natasha Romanoff, or simply “Black Widow”, because I admire her style of kicking butt and taking names, because I have always been a fighter and a survivor. And the middle name Lee, was paying respect to my grandmother, who sadly left us this past month for a better place. Greetings, my name is Jenna Lee Romanoff. Oh, and the last name represents my Russian roots.
The name Catherine has just resonated with me since grade 9, when we studied Catherine the Great in history. That was over 40 years ago. I haven’t quite settled on on my middle name. I had thought to keep my initials the same by changing my brothers middle name George to Georgia (don’t know how to feminize Grant). However lately I am leaning more to taking my mothers middle name Tayler.
Hi,
I chose Susan because my mother told me that had I would have been born a girl that my name would’ve been Susan, unfortunately my sister got that name. So I’ve shortened it to just the first name and used the middle name as the last name to get Susan Kay.
well as my male name was Michael it just stood to reason to change to michelle (which I’m proud to say is my official legal name)
When I was ready to come out, I started thinking about this. Since I’d known since I was 5 yrs old that I as in the wrong body, it was 3rd grade/8 yrs old when I started thinking about it. There were 3 girls in my class named Vicki, Vicky, & Vickie and with my name of Richard I was called Ricky back then, so Vicki seemed to fit even back then. I knew that if I was to awaken “fixed” per my prayers each night that would be my name.
So when came out and researched the name I found that Victoria & Richard were very similar in meaning; “kind, loving, & gentle ruler.”
For my middle name, it was my dads first name and I really was close and miss him so much. I took the feminine form which means; “God will judge me.”
I’ve kept my German surname as it dates from 1320 AD, and there are only about 500 and less than 2000 in the world.
My birth name is Sean so I figured all they got wrong was the spelling. My name reflects that I’m the same person I’ve always been and that will never change.
My name came to me in a dream. I was surrounded by friends and we were all chatting, when one of the guys called out to me. Suddenly, everyone looked at me and I questioned with who he was talking to. He said “You Rachelle!” I got up, found a mirror, and saw a woman looking back at me. I knew then, it was someone tell me this was my real name.
You’re Beautiful Rachelle
I have a cousin in France that I always admired. There was something about her style that made me want to be like her.
