It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
My given name is richard, my mother always called me ricky, and I just modified it to riki.
The first name, ava/ery, is because I couldn’t choose between Avary and Avery and so I combined both and made ava/ery. The middle name Bridgealette-Lillian I just also liked the names, and they go together well. The last name Grace Rose is because 1. they go together well and 2. I have a friend that’s named grace and rose is just a soft name, and I liked it. I also put my male name to remind me that even though I am a girl i was born a boy.
There is no particular reason why I picked my part-time forename or middle name [part-time as I am not planning on transitioning]. It just became apparent over time that they naturally suited my personality and character. On the other hand, perhaps coincidentally, I do enjoy drinking Earl Grey tea, which often has Jasmine flowers in it, while Edith was the middle name of one of my great-great-grandparents, and it seems to fit.
I took my name from my first girlfriend her name was Lorain. Her friends and family called her Rainey. She was so beautiful and feminine. I think I still love her to this day. Every time I think of her I feel a sense of loss but also I feel very warm and happy about what was and what may have been.
My last name was always going to honor my old name, while still being clearly feminine. As for first and middle, Astrid is a strong female nordic name that honors my roots. while Celina is the name I was to be given If I had been born the correct gender. it also Honors my Twin sister, who did not survive the troubled pregnancy.
My name honestly isn’t ideal for a femme name, it is hard to pronounce and sounds a bit exotic or foreign. It comes from my grandmother though and has meaning to me. My grandmother is from Ireland and when I was a very young boy I pouted and fussed when I didn’t get my way and she would say that I was a “a dark, jealous little girl”.
When I was choosing my femme name, I did a search for the meanings of Irish / Gaelic names to see what stood out. I did not want to use my last name so I chose the surname D’Arcy meaning dark. The name Etain supposedly means jealous. To make it easier to have a passable name when needed, I chose Nicole as a middle name – because I knew an absolutely stunning girl name Nicole once.
So I am Etain Nicole D’Arcy !
My name comes from the character in the movie Forrest Gump. I loved her in the movie, just her free spirit hit home with me and I have always identified with her.
My wife invited her sister (a hair stylist and makeup artist) to stay a weekend. Then she subtly brought up the subject of high heels because her sister is a devotee and committed wearer. During the course of the conversation, my not-so-discreet wife blurted that I should share my collection with her sis. Caught off guard, I had to, and in short order they had me modeling both my selection of stilettos as well as mini dresses while wearing the nylons they had chosen. Jen then did my makeup nails, taught me the runway strut: and instantly thought to call me nancy. I loved her attitude and attention and she understood how the public humiliation was turning me on. Its been nancy nylons ever since!!!!
