A beautiful pair of shoes or high heels can instantly make you feel more feminine and attractive.
But do you struggle to find stylish women’s shoes in your size?
In this article, I share my top places to shop for shoes for trans women and crossdressers – particularly if your feet are US women’s size 13 or larger!
How to convert between men’s and women’s shoe sizes
But first, let’s talk about how to convert between men’s and women’s shoe sizes. This actually varies a lot from country to country.
In the US and Australia, there’s approximately a 2 size difference between men’s and women’s shoes.
To find your women’s shoe size, simply add 2 sizes to your usual men’s shoe size. For example, a men’s US size 11 would be women’s US size 13.
If you are in the UK, Europe, or Asia, things are much easier since there’s no difference between men’s and women’s shoe sizes.
However, regardless of the size, keep in mind that men’s and women’s shoes are shaped slightly differently. Men’s shoes are usually wider at the heels.
For that reason, I always recommend trying on shoes before you buy them, rather than relying on the numerical size alone.
Now that you know your shoe size, let’s go shopping!
Long Tall Sally
The ultimate shopping destination for tall women, Long Tall Sally offers large size women’s shoes up to a US size 15. This UK based e-commerce site offers service and shipping within the US, UK, EU, and Australia.
Pleaser Shoes
While Pleaser Shoes prides itself on being the leader in sexy footwear, they offer a range of styles – from sexy to classic and pinup to goth. Most importantly, they offer women’s shoes up to a size 16.
Update: Our lovely reader Jolene has shared that with Pleasers, depending on the style of shoe, a trans woman or crossdresser may need to add THREE sizes to their male shoe size.
FSJ Shoes
FSJ Shoes is a China-based shoe manufacturer that offers a huge array of styles up to a size 15 US. Best of all, they also offer custom made shoes at affordable prices so you can make any shoe dream come true!

I’m a US size 10, UK8, EU41. I’m in New Zealand, so have manufacturers like Verali, Lipstik, and Pulp. I also have a couple of pairs of Bordellos, in size 11. I have bought online, and locally buy them from TradeMe and have them sent to me at work. Here are a beautiful pair of Verali Lift, silver diamante shoes – one of my favs. I just had to have them!!
I wear a size 13w and have found that Payless Shoe Stores carry a pretty good section of shoes that will fit me, at a good price. They will either shipped them to your home or to a store close to you for pick-up. If you have them shipped to the store the shipping is free and I have also found most sales personnel to be very friendly when I do go there to pick them up, always a plus. There web site tells you if the shoes you are looking for is available in store, what stores have them in stock, or if they must be ordered on-line. Happy shopping girls!
Spain, the 9th largest world exporter of shoes (and also the 7th in terms of average shoe cost), has some surprising manufacturers which do have all sorts of models in pretty much every possible size. Since I live in Europe, I favour Andypola (http://www.andypola.es/), mostly because of their low shipping costs to my country (the 2nd most expensive manufacturer of shoes, just after Italy) and, of course, no import taxes. They are present in the US under the brand Alonai (http://www.alonai.com/), offering the same selection, and, again, for American buyers, no import taxes nor high shipping costs (clever guys, aren’t they?).
Quality is not overwhelming (for example, they might favour human made leather instead of real leather, to keep costs down) — definitely much, much better than Chinese shoes, though! — but the choices are truly great, they carry contemporary styles and refresh them periodically, and it’s very easy to get a large selection of 13 size shoes (44/45 in Continental Europe).
Their prices are a bargain and they do many promotions and sales, often offering 50-70% reductions on prices which are already considerably low. It’s just a question of visiting the site often 🙂
I found out that their sandals tend to fit better than their pumps, but I could just have been unlucky.
So if you’re on a budget but enjoy a slinky, sexy Spanish look on your feet, this is definitely the site to go and buy from.
In my country, Portugal, even though it’s the 11th largest shoe manufacturer in the world in terms of volume and the 2nd in terms of price/quality, the problem is that manufacturers really hate large shoe sizes. To my knowledge, there is only one street brand that sells them above European size 41, and they only launch new models in large size once per decade or so, and keep them in stock for years and years. Quality is acceptable (not superb though), but the styles tend to be a bit old-fashioned. I just managed to walk into one of their shops once to buy a pair and see how well they fit. Unfortunately, for me, it means almost always ordering shoes from the Web; it looks like women’s feet in Portugal are, on average, as tiny as the Chinese 🙂
As an Australian, I go to Rosenburgs shoes. They are located in melbourne and have shoes up to size 14. The staff were very helpful and didnt even blink an eye when I visited (I am very obviously trans). They have a good return policy if shoes don’t fit, and a great online store. And most importantly for me they are based from Australia! http://www.rosenbergshoes.com.au/
I would love to see a similar article for wide shoe shopping.
I wear a size 11 en femme…we just moved to another state within the United States and I’m so excited to see many different shoe options here in my size! What does it mean when women have big feet?..we’ve all heard about the big feet theory with men….
I don’t really have a problem finding shoes in my size, because I’m only a size 10. Most places sell to that size, whether it be Victoria’s Secret, Heels.com, JustFab, or places that sell costume shoes.
