Do you long achieve a more feminine figure as a crossdresser or transgender woman?
If so, the secret lies in creating a more feminine hip-to-waist ratio – that coveted hourglass shape!
In this blog post, I’ll share 5 MTF tips on how to slim your waist and enhance your hips, ultimately helping you achieve a more feminine and flattering body shape.
1. Try Waist Training With a Corset
If you’ve never worn a corset before, prepare to be amazed: A corset can take up to 6” off your waist and make you look and feel ultra feminine.
A corset can even be used for a semi-permanent waist size reduction. Waist training with a corset isn’t fast or easy, but it can work wonders when combined with a proper diet and exercise.
Check out this Guide to Waist Training from Orchard Corset to learn more about what waist training is and how to properly use corsets for this purpose.

2. Wear a Waist Cincher
As lovely as corsets are, they aren’t always practical. A big drawback is that corsets can look stiff and bulky under most clothes. And they’re not exactly known for being comfortable.
Waist cinchers, on the other hand, are designed to be worn under clothing. A waist cincher can take 1-4 inches off your waist while still allowing you to move and breath easily.
Here are 3 top-reviewed waist cinchers available in small to extra-large sizes.

3. Improve Your Posture
Good posture can make you look 10 pounds lighter around the middle, so pay attention to the way you sit and stand. Think: stomach in, chest lifted, and shoulders back.
Even better – put on your waist cincher! A waist cincher improves your posture by forcing you to keep your tummy in and your spine straight.
4. Do Stomach Vacuum Exercises
Traditional exercises like crunches and sit-ups can overdevelop your abs and increase the size of your waist. This is obviously the last thing you need in your MTF body shaping journey.
Instead, consider doing stomach vacuum exercises. This exercise tones the transverse abdominis – the innermost ab muscle that holds your stomach in and acts like a built in corset. Everyday crunches don’t target this muscle.
Stomach vacuums (also known as the vacuum pose) can take 2-4 inches off your waist, so it’s definitely worth a try. I personally lost 1 inch off my waist after doing this exercise for 2 weeks!
Here’s how to do it:
- Exhale all the air from your lungs.
- Expand your chest and suck in your stomach as much as possible. Imagine trying to touch your belly button to your spine.
- Hold this pose for 5-15 seconds and then relax.
- Repeat for 3-5 minutes.
Stomach vacuums should be done on an empty stomach and can be done standing, sitting, or on your hands and knees.
Watch the video above and/or check out this article to learn more about stomach vacuum exercises.
5. Enhance Your Hips
A small waist is only half of the equation. Your hips should appear approximately 10 inches larger than your waist for true hourglass proportions.
Here are some tips for enhancing your hips:
- Wear padded panties. Classic Curves carries the best hip and butt enhancers for crossdressers and transgender women. You can also find a big selection of removable hip and butt pads on LoveMyBubbles.com.
- Go for skirts and dresses with gathered waistlines. Gathers are the easiest way add inches to your lower body and create the illusion of hips.
- Look for peplum styles. A peplum is a ruffle or overskirt attached to the waistline of a top, dress, or skirt. This is a feminine style that adds instant fullness to the hips.

tips to look the look you want
I just try to wear clothes that accentuate my body. I’m not into girdles and shapewear. I am fairly small, so don’t need those. I just wear clothes that are fun. I like long blouses, high waisted dresses and peplum styles as well. Here I am recently. Being an older woman also helps, I guess! I’m 75! What do you think? Hugs, Suzy
This article is fat shaming. Fuck this hourglass B/S.
Be voluptuous. Be sensual. Be womanly.
The media and society have this pre-conception of beauty.
It’s photoshop. It’s manipulated. It is FAKE.
Be yourself !
Be fabulous.
You go girl! Everybody pushes for a model type figure including the media!~ That’s where we get all this crap from!
xoxo
I agree with your comments about society and the media. I also think that being ourselves is enough. I failed to perceive where the fat shaming was in this article. Can you please explain further?
Hi all – I really don’t wear girdles or corsets. I try to wear clothes that accentuate my body. Usually tops that are long, dresses that are high waisted, etc. And I do love peplum styles! Here are a few photos of me. I’m 75, what do you think? Hugs, Suzy
Meant to attach another!
An addition to my comment there is my New Year pic. In a red dress.
Thanks to God and parents l have always had waist line and hourglass figure. And I never have done for it. No diet. I eat all l want: fat meat, sweets, cakes. The figure doesn’t change. The right hormones helped to grow breasts and hips to make figure more hourglass. And feminization exercises from this wonderful site where I have come 11 years ago.
What is the site for the exercises?
THIS site. Feminazation Kits. Feminization exercises of Gina Roman. Very useful.
Are other exercises Advisable? I was thinking of maybe trying stair climbers and the like to tone and develop legs and glutes without building too much mass. Planks also seem like they may be conducive towards toning and enhancing the core without promoting too much mass on the stomach. I am by no means an expert and these could all be the product of gross concept errors however. Great article though!
Try a side plank and then raise and extend the upper leg out to the side, to your front as it were. Touch the toes to the floor and then take it back the other way to behind you, again touching the toes to the floor. Keep your torso tense and straight at all times. Do as many as you can on each side. It seems to help tone the midsection.
If your knees don’t like the full plank – it cab place a side strainon the joint – do the side plank from the knee.
Lucille,
I love the article.
I really see women who go to the gym, they improve everything, but one instead of having a smaller waist they have it thicker.
My problem is that I do not have hips and I ask you to give us ideas of how to make them grow, fill, without just hiding them with clothes. Some exercise to help with that, because everyone else just makes them even thinner.
I can relate. No hips any butt is pretty small. However a cute tight butt isn’t bad at all. Some women are envious?? Maybe. The new yoga pants really accentuate nicely whatever your backside has to offer. While most on this blog don’t go down the HRT route there is some real hip readjusting (amongst many other feminine attributes) available through hormones. But as many have said here, be happy with you, you are beautiful.
My tree trunk thi’s are what I’d reduce in size. To much bicycling as child.
Now they are primary fat deposit centers as each one near waist line size each for avg GG MODEL. I can leg lift alot still. Crotch to knee-cap is like 25in each. Twas great for power bicycling hills. Not so much bulk would be nice in mini skirt … nor am I enamored with Kardashion butt. some might like that physique … ME nope … I prefer more old school size of 70s
