If you’re like many of my transgender or crossdressing readers, you might not be able to present yourself as a woman each day.
That doesn’t mean you have to lose your female side when it’s time to put on the pants!
In this post, I share 5 ways to stay in touch with your femininity – even in male mode.
1. Wear Women’s Underwear
Let’s start with the most obvious tip, shall we? Wearing women’s underwear underneath your male clothing is the easiest way to connect with your feminine self on a daily basis.
Aside from that, women’s panties tend to be more comfortable than men’s boxers or briefs. Plus, they come in loads of cute and sexy styles to add some secret pizazz to your outfit.
2. Try Stealth Crossdressing
Wearing lingerie under your clothes is a classic, but why stop there? Sneaking a piece of women’s clothing into your daily outfit is a great way to feel girly.
A lot of women’s clothing can pass for unisex, so try wearing women’s:
- Basic tees
- Button-down shirts
- Jeans and pants
Don’t forget about accessories! You could also play with wearing women’s boots or using a tote bag as a laptop bag or briefcase.
3. Apply Incognito Makeup
There are lots of ways to incorporate makeup into your daily look, even when presenting as a male. Here are 4 must-have makeup items:
- Concealer or foundation – Apply a thin layer to cover under eye circles or blemishes.
- Setting powder – Apply to shiny spots on your face, like the nose or forehead.
- Clear mascara – Use it to make your eyelashes look subtly longer and fuller.
- Uncolored lipstick – Instead of boring Chapstick, care for your lips with a clear lipstick.
4. Use the Power of Scent
Scents have a powerful effect on your brain chemistry and mood, so this is a great way to connect with your feminine side.
Wear women’s perfume instead of cologne. Musky fragrances are the most unisex, so you can wear them without anybody knowing your secret. (Check out my article on perfume to learn more about choosing the right scent.)
Another option is to burn a scented candle with a feminine fragrance in your home or office.
5. Keep Reminders of Your Female Self
Another tip is to surround yourself with reminders of the woman within.
One way to do this is through photos. Keep photos of your femme self on your phone, in your wallet, or even framed and hung up so you can see them often.
You could also carry around items personalized with your feminine name, such as a necklace, keychain, or coffee mug.
6. Try Feminizing Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a powerful way to increase confidence, reprogram habits and behaviors, and improve the way you express yourself as a woman.
Best of all, it’s the ultimate mental escape – allowing you to connect with you female self regardless of your current situation.
Try it for yourself by signing up for my free Unleash Your Inner Woman hypnosis mini-session here.
How do YOU stay connected?
In an ideal world, you’d be free to present yourself as a woman whenever and wherever you wanted. Until then, I hope this gives you ideas for expressing your female side anytime you want!
How do YOU stay connected to your feminine self? I’d love to know, so please share in the comments below!

Lucille,
Thank you so much for geing there for our girls. It can be a long and scary journey, but women like you help light the way. I am one of the ‘lucky’ ones, having made the transition and enjoying my life as the woman I was supposed to be, and I know what it can be like getting there. It truly is a blessing to be able to dress to fit my gender identity 24/7. Well worth the risk, the loss, the worry, and most definitely worth the effort. Being who we are intended to be is life’s greatest gift. But it isn’t free. It takes dedication and hard work to “earn” it. Wishing all my sisters the best of luck in your journey, wherever you may be along the path. You are never alone.
I have been shaving my legs and armpits for 10 years. I always wear panties and almost always wear pantyhose (I don’t own any mens underwear). All of my jeans are women’s and half of my tops are also. I only have 3 pr. of men’s shoes and the other 100+ are women’s shoes and boots. I have found that I can wear a chunky 4″ heel with flare leg jeans to cover up the heel height. I once had a gentleman say that he was happy to see that bell bottoms were making a comeback! Racer back bras work well as they look like you’re wearing a sleevless undershirt if any lines show. And to camoflage bra lines, wear a top with a pattern. Don’t wear solids! You will be on the radar!
Very interesting read of what others do. For me I too wear panties daily and panty hose too in the fall, winter and spring under my jeans or slacks which can be either female or male. I have a few pair of womens shoes that can be worn when I am not going to be calling on customers. I use a VS body spray daily. I keep my legs, armpits, chest and hands waxed or shaved as necessary. My nails are manicured and covered with a matte polish and other than being ocassionally questioned about them being a bit too long, it generally goes well. I day dream about the possibility of living full time as a lady. Until then I just smile to myself knowing what I know and going on about the daily activities.
i wear nylons and garter belt, panties and bra everyday under a pair of ladies blue jeans and a loose fitting blouse that nobody has ever mentioned,i keep my nails fairly short but my toes are always painted ,i wish i was more passable but am working on increasing my breast size with your help and am happy with the results
love nicole
I am quite new to this but am enjoying wearing various items of feeme clothing. At the moment I am on my own and am wearing silk bra & pannties, short sleave low cut top & short denim skirt. It feels great! I do sometimes wear these when I am driving & when I am on the beach. I have worn the bra & pannties while at work & wondered what my work mates would say if they knew. I am only an A cup so also use enhancers. I love the way it all makes me feel. I have to keep this from my family & work mates but it is nice when I am on my own. I would love to increase the size of my boobs to a B or even a C but would not consider surgery. Any suggestions???
I would love to be more open about it but do not have the confidence. Your site is helping.
Mostly daily i wear top skirt and heels on my job when i go for shopping i wear button blouse shirt with jean my hair are long and i always change my nailpolish coular sometimes i put bindi on my forehead when i wear indian saree
Hey Lucille
Great advice!!!
Here are some of my tips that I have when I started out and wanted to wear women’s clothing to feel more ME. all these separates can be combined to make an outfit
1. Jeans – straight cut jeans a good dark pair is a good way to start, as you can get a
loose style or more of a tight fitting (the tight may be more of a younger
and slimmer girl starting out..)
– boyfriend cut jeans and there is a difference between the two
– boot cut jeans get one that has a slight flare at the bottom but keep it in line with a straight cut..
these cut jeans are good starters and are not obvious, just make sure that you get the right size.
2. tops – regular white tee ( cindy Crawford .. you girls know) does not have to be women’s but it can if you feel that you want to buy them , just know that they do have a slight curve in them from the sides..
– tank tops ( wife beaters) are another good way to start
– sweaters all sorts of them turtles to crew are a good way to get to wear women’s clothes in the cooler months
3. jackets – blazers – you can find a straight cut female blazer .. just be careful here as most female blazers have that curve on the side *(princess seams)
– long coats or trench coats
4. shoes – loafers – great for those casual days and weekends
– sneakers – unisex but u can buy in the women section
– boots – like Lucille said this is a great way.. and I have seen it when I was working in the shoe dept of a department store men do buy women boots for themselves
– uggs yes some men do buy them (personally I don’t like them)
5. socks – nylon socks u can either by knee highs or there are lace or design nylon women socks as well as cotton socks. **now be aware that sock size is different that shoe so don’t take the wrong one ( women shoe sz {6-9} sock size is 9-11, wm shoe sz {8-13} sock sz is 10-12)
*try and stay away from this as this will add the femme shape and will be hard to hide
**women shoe sz {6-9} sock size is 9-11, wm shoe sz {8-13} sock sz is 10-12
I hope that these can help you all and Lucille you always do an awesome job and thanks… keep it up
Xoxo kathy
Awesome, thanks for all the great ideas, Kathy!! Love it!
