What do you think of when you hear the word “ladylike?”
Beauty, poise, and class? Or outdated ideas of femininity?
To me, being ladylike means being classy, gracious, and elegant. No matter what your idea of femininity might be, I’m sure we can agree that those are great traits to have.
Do you want to be seen as a lady? If so, there are a few things you should definitely avoid doing…
Keep reading to learn 5 common mistakes that make you less ladylike:
Mistake #1: Showing Too Much Skin
Being ladylike definitely doesn’t mean being a buttoned-up prude. However, good taste goes a long way when presenting yourself as a woman.
It can be tricky to know how much is too much, so here are some simple guidelines to keep in mind:
- Show off one part of your body and keep the rest covered. A little mystery is sexy, so show off your legs, breasts, or back – just not all at once.
- Flaunt the right amount of cleavage. A good rule of thumb is to reveal 20%-40% of your bust. This gives you sex appeal, while keeping it classy.
- Try the finger length test. To determine the proper skirt length, stand up straight and put your arms to your side. If your fingertips fall past the hem of your skirt, it’s too short.
Mistake #2: Not Minding Your Manners
Good manners and etiquette are dying arts in today’s world. Saying “please” and “thank you” are simple ways to elevate your ladylike status.
The rules of etiquette can be a bit more confusing. To learn more, check out my blog post on 6 modern etiquette tips for your male to female transformation.
Mistake #3: Being Sloppy With Your Grooming
Grooming can make or break your feminine image. In fact, studies show that grooming has more of an impact on your attractiveness than the physical features you were born with.
Are your grooming habits up to par? If this area needs work, be sure to see my article on 5 feminine grooming habits not to ignore.
Mistake #4: Losing Control
One of the most important qualities of a lady (and of any respectable human being) is self control – especially when you’re out in public.
In other words, no diva acts, angry outbursts, or public displays of drunkenness. It seems obvious, but if celebrity tabloids are any indication, it’s not.
Mistake #5: Poor Posture Or Body Language
Finally, don’t forget that your posture and body language communicate more about you than anything you say. Here are some major no-nos:
- Biting your nails or playing with your hair
- Not making eye contact
- Crossing your arms

Just keep your make up simple if you wear it. Stay away from all the contouring…..If you start contouring it starts looking like in a drag show. Your objective is to present as a woman…..Keep It Stupid Simple….K.I.S.S.. A woman’s stride is 1/3 a man’s stride….plus slightly shifting weight to one side gives that feminine hip sway. Walk with your feet closer together not shoulder with apart….reason for a man’s walk is distinguishable as rugged you want to present a smaller you. Also if you work out don’t overdo it…..certain exercises help boost testosterone levels….if in transition or starting will take longer to drop those levels. Keep your appearance soft feminine.
Keep to step aerobics don’t over do it. Also bicycling, skateboarding help work tone legs, squats and legs lifts firm butt, a few sit ups will whittle down the abdomen.
For me being ladylike is blended in with the woman who I am going to be around. Don’t wear clothes that make you stand out by looking out of place. 6 inch heels aren’t recommended for being at the mall in the afternoon while you are shopping. Keep it simple and look like you belong while you are presenting your self as a lady.
You can look sexy wearing sandals while wearing jeans or shorts. High heels look great for going out dining or going out to a club while you are wearing a dress or a skirt
Just remember to try to blend in. That’s the best advice I can give you
Good evening, I am a man. I hope to become a girl in everything and learn to be a woman in everything that concerns women. But the problem is that I live in Egypt. Is there a solution for me? I dream that a woman will help me in that to the truth and become like her
Being ladylike is a state of mind in my opinion. I just try my best to look and behave as a woman whenever I am out, which is all the time! I love talking to women and sharing feminine ideas. Going out now during this Covid mess is not a problem for me. Here I am today out shopping! I love my life. Have fun girls – Hugs, Suzy
I think this meets the finger test

I try not to walk like a trucker in heels.
Reduce your stride length, don’t speed walk.
Don’t spend all day doing drag queen make-up after all you don’t want to stand out. Keep it subtle.
