Ava Gardner as I heard her in person talking as we danced off camera in 1953 at a chance meeting in public in NYC had a mid range lower voice somewhat like Bacall and unlike the very masculinized Bankhead.She sounded just like she does on film.I was surprised because I thought microphones of the day lowered the voice pitch but apparently not in Ava’s case.
