It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
The female version of my male first name wasn’t very feminine-sounding. So I feminized my middle name, which was perfect, because for some reason I always associated the name Stephanie with the type of “good girl” that I would have been–studying instead of partying, sitting in a corner reading a book at the school dance :). I added Ann for 2 reasons: one is that I love names that end with Ann, because they sound so feminine. The other is that when I was about 6 and had the first transgender dream I can recall, I was changed into a girl by some evil magical entity and my parents renamed me Ann. So it’s a constant reminder of how long I’ve wanted this, in case I ever feel guilty or ashamed. Thank heaven for people like Lucille who have helped me and I’m sure many others to overcome guilt and shame.
My exwife was trying to help me to find a name for me at first she calling Jojo but I did not care for it, one day it hit me around 1996 and it was like I always knew it was the name I was searching for a long time and the name that came to me was Sissy Cassie.
I needed a name which would sound slightly similar to my original name and the name should belong to a lady whom I know to whom I was feeling a passion. The lady was a very feminine, slim, tall brunette with wide eyes full of desire. That is how I chose my feminine name…
I chose the name Renee simply because there was a girl in my high school with the same name and I just adored her. She was a cheerleader, short and petite and I always pictured what her life was like while we were not in school.
I got lucky. I was born male and was named Kim and when l was older l legally changed my name on my birth certificate to Kimmy and now my birth certificate and all my ID, credit cards are all Kimmy with my last name and that is how l changed it and everyone to this day all call me Kimmy
Hello Lucille,
Well let’s see, how did I choose my feminine name? Looking back I was in closet for some time, could only dress when no one was home or stuck in my room making sure I had everything I needed before hand cause there was no leaving after getting all prettied up. Once dressed and made up there was way it was coming off until I absolutely had to, Hey make up is expensive and takes lots and lots of time, RIGHT. After each time I would get all dressed up, I would look in the mirror and think of what would be a good name for my female self. Tried looking up 100’s of names on the internet I just couldn’t make a decision.
Then while I getting ready I had put on elegant evening gown I had got a week before, make up flawless. Then my guardian angel, my strength, my security, my best friend, my wife said to me as she watched me adding the finishing touches, what are your plans for the evening, I said, well just lounge here can’t do much with the others here. She then said I’ll be right back. When she returned she said OK give my about 30mins and I’ll be ready. I then said ready for what, she says I bought us at least 6 or so hours so we can do anything you want and seeing as your dressed for dinner lets go to dinner. OK getting to how I chose my En Fem name.
This was going to be the first time for me going out in public. I made to the car as nervous as I was. As we were driving to the restaurant, she had asked if I had picked a name yet, I said no just haven’t found one that hit me. Then I was checking the my self in the cars visor mirror and found a pair sun glasses. As I was wearing them she said WOW you know you kind of look like Jackie O. I took a 2nd look and said you know your right. And from that day on for some 10 or more years Jackie has been me now. Since then I have given her a middle name “Kanani” which is a Hawaiian and means “The Beautiful One”
So that’s my story and I’m definitely sticking to it as Jackie is here to stay.
Thanks for reading
XOXO

I Chose Jennifer, I feel comfortable with it and I feel it fits me and I fit it. It is a comfortable, like a pair panties and bra that just seem to fit just right.
I chose “RIKI” because that is what my mother wanted had I been the girl she wanted so badly. She got BOTH it seems… ha! My name is actually “RICKIE” so it was an easy choice.
