Full lips are a symbol of youth and beauty. Women naturally tend to have fuller lips than men, so lush lips can give you a more feminine appearance.
For crossdressers and transgender women, this detail can have a big impact on your overall look!
But who wants to risk trout pout with painful, expensive injections?
The good news is that there are some simple, non-invasive ways to plump your pout. Here are 5 ways to get fuller, more feminine lips:
1. Exfoliate Your Lips
Dead skin cells on the lips can give you a dry and chapped look. Exfoliation removes the dead cells so your lips can hold onto more moisture, giving the lips a more luscious look.
Exfoliation also increases circulation to the lips, making them look fuller.
You can exfoliate with a washcloth or soft toothbrush. There are also a variety of lip scrubs out there. Lush makes some great ones in a variety of flavors.
2. Try A Lip Pump
There are a number of devices out there that can temporary plump the lips using suction to draw fluid to the area. This creates a plumping effect that can last for several hours. Some examples:
The drawback to these devices is that they can cause bruising or even serious injury if they aren’t used correctly. They can also leave unattractive red marks on the face.
If you decide to try a lip pump, be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
3. Boost Collagen
Collagen is a protein in your body that helps keep the skin and lips plump and smooth. As you age, your body produces less collagen, which can lead to thinner lips and more wrinkles.
Luckily, there are ways to increase collagen naturally:
- Take a collagen supplement. These are inexpensive and easy to find in any health food store.
- If you’re not a fan of pills, try eating bone broth soups or fruits and vegetables with vitamin C. These foods support natural collagen production.
4. Enhance Your Lips With Makeup
The right makeup techniques can work wonders on your lips. Remember, there’s an art to applying makeup! It’s all too easy to cross the line into artificial looking clown lips.
For full, feminine lips, try this lip makeup tutorial from Makeup Magic: The Ultimate Male to Female Makeup Program. (You can access the complete program here.)
5. Use A Lip Plumping Gloss
There are loads of cosmetic lip plumpers on the market — and some of them actually work!
The best lip plumpers contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid to draw moisture to the lips or peptides that increase collagen. These plumpers create lasting results without causing long term damage.
Some lip plumpers contain irritating ingredients like cinnamon or cayenne. This creates swelling, which make the lips look fuller. However, they can dry out the skin in the long run. I recommend limiting your use of these.
Here are a few of my favorite lip plumping glosses:
- GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper Gloss
- TOO FACED Lip Injection Plumping Lip Gloss
- Sublime Lips Manuka Honey Lip Plumper

transformation tips?
Hi all – I really don’t use any of these items since at my age (74) I just prefer good old red lipstick. And really, how many women do you see out there with very full lips? I don’t think they go out of their way to enhance their lips either, other than with lipstick. I just try to look like any other ordinary women when I am out an about. Here is a recent photo of me. Hugs, Suzy
I’m 71, and I completely agree with you!

Thanks Kimsey! I really appreciate your comments! Hugs, Suzy
Suzy Q…
You are always so beautiful, and an extraordinary example for us 74 ( in October) year olds.
I have a number of lipsticks, too many, but seem to go back to my bright ref, pink glossy or my data wine matt. I also use a lip brush at times. I stopped using an outlined years ago.

Thanks Dr. TJ! You always look great too! Always so feminine! Us older girls need to keep up! Yep, I gave up lip liners too. Just your basic lipstick is fine with me! Hugs, Suzy
I am a rather TALL gurl so this might become an issue. I do have a certain style I use to counter the thinner male lips. I ordered the CANDYLIPZ plumper to see if it will help…
I have been working on mine. Will try the ‘CANDYLIPZ’ and see if it can make them a little plumper…
Get volufine cream . Amazon has it. It is great for breasts and lips. It is natural and you rub it on ur breasts and lips twice a day. It creates fatty cells which plumps up ur breasts and lips. Have patience and in a month or 2 u will notice the difference. I’ve been using it for 5 months and am very pleased. If you email me I can send a pic
exfoliate and moisterise my lips are looking great
Sometimes “less is more” or simply a less contrasting tone can enhance your presentation. I’d suggest not drawing much attention to them.
Oh, I’m 70…
Hi Dr. TJ! Thnx for the kind words…yes, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to retire at age 59 by choice! Within the first year, I migrated to living full time and have never looked back. I swear that hormones are the proverbial “fountain of youth”. (Smile)
Best wishes to you!!

Yeah! Another BEAUTIFUL 70 y.o. in our gang!
You look so 55!!
Love your style.
Are you retired as well?

I got thin lips and I’ve tried to follow different makeup techniques to make them appear plumper but I look kinda silly. I’ve tried a lip pump and it worked great…for about 10 minutes, then they deflate. I’ve seen some scary lip injection results, so I don’t know about that and if you get lip implants, all you can do is hope it comes out right the first time. Maybe someday I’ll try lip injections….maybe.
I think your lips and smile look very nice as they are. I believe you are wise to think twice before messing with what mother nature has given you.
Hugs,
Jenny D
What’s a good foundation for a guy to use? Where can I get a lip plum?
Yeah, I don’t have any issues really just wanted to see what’s up here.
bye.
