Full lips are a symbol of youth and beauty. Women naturally tend to have fuller lips than men, so lush lips can give you a more feminine appearance.
For crossdressers and transgender women, this detail can have a big impact on your overall look!
But who wants to risk trout pout with painful, expensive injections?
The good news is that there are some simple, non-invasive ways to plump your pout. Here are 5 ways to get fuller, more feminine lips:
1. Exfoliate Your Lips
Dead skin cells on the lips can give you a dry and chapped look. Exfoliation removes the dead cells so your lips can hold onto more moisture, giving the lips a more luscious look.
Exfoliation also increases circulation to the lips, making them look fuller.
You can exfoliate with a washcloth or soft toothbrush. There are also a variety of lip scrubs out there. Lush makes some great ones in a variety of flavors.
2. Try A Lip Pump
There are a number of devices out there that can temporary plump the lips using suction to draw fluid to the area. This creates a plumping effect that can last for several hours. Some examples:
The drawback to these devices is that they can cause bruising or even serious injury if they aren’t used correctly. They can also leave unattractive red marks on the face.
If you decide to try a lip pump, be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
3. Boost Collagen
Collagen is a protein in your body that helps keep the skin and lips plump and smooth. As you age, your body produces less collagen, which can lead to thinner lips and more wrinkles.
Luckily, there are ways to increase collagen naturally:
- Take a collagen supplement. These are inexpensive and easy to find in any health food store.
- If you’re not a fan of pills, try eating bone broth soups or fruits and vegetables with vitamin C. These foods support natural collagen production.
4. Enhance Your Lips With Makeup
The right makeup techniques can work wonders on your lips. Remember, there’s an art to applying makeup! It’s all too easy to cross the line into artificial looking clown lips.
For full, feminine lips, try this lip makeup tutorial from Makeup Magic: The Ultimate Male to Female Makeup Program. (You can access the complete program here.)
5. Use A Lip Plumping Gloss
There are loads of cosmetic lip plumpers on the market — and some of them actually work!
The best lip plumpers contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid to draw moisture to the lips or peptides that increase collagen. These plumpers create lasting results without causing long term damage.
Some lip plumpers contain irritating ingredients like cinnamon or cayenne. This creates swelling, which make the lips look fuller. However, they can dry out the skin in the long run. I recommend limiting your use of these.
Here are a few of my favorite lip plumping glosses:
- GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper Gloss
- TOO FACED Lip Injection Plumping Lip Gloss
- Sublime Lips Manuka Honey Lip Plumper
Let’s talk lips…
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Have you ever tried plumping your lips? What worked and what didn’t?

transformation tips?
Im a married crossdresser. My wife does not want any part of it. I have just started wearing lipstick and mascara out in public. I dress whenever I am alone. Im feminine inside.
There’s a cute trick that gives lips an extra “look at me”. After lipsticking, wild red, of course, a tiny touch of distinctly lighter color on the pouty part of your lower lip, and near each side of your philtrum on the upper, will look glossy and more 3D.
Good luck!
Putting on my lipstick while applying my makeup in the mornings is one of my favorite things to do. Doing my lipstick does make me feel very feminine and womanly. I live as a woman so I do my makeup daily and I am also a married woman and legally married to my husband.
Of course it is same sex marriage being we were both born male but my fem side took control and I am now in the world of womanhood. I try to look as good, sexy and desirable as I can for my husband. I am the woman and wife in our marriage and I do want a pouty mouth and lips, which my husband likes. He likes my overall feminine womanly look. My face and mouth are just as important as my boobs, which are a C cup and natural and also my butt, which I have been told by my husband and others that I have a woman’s butt, to complete my look of a woman.
#1: I do wash my face daily with a washcloth and I do go over my lips and mouth with it. I have never thought of exfoliating but I guess I am already doing that.
#2: I have never tried or used a lip pump device but it is something I might consider. So far I have just been trying to get my pouty look from the way I have been doing my lipstick. I have heard it said that a tube of lipstick is a woman’s best friend. I do want a kissable mouth for my husband.
#3: I do eat foods that help produce collagen and I also have a diet that enhances estrogen. I think I will try the collagen supplements to see if they will help plump my lips.
#4: Using makeup is how I have been trying to enhance my lips but now reading this article I am discovering that there are more ways and techniques of enhancing my lips and mouth.
#5: So far I have not used a pluming gloss and just used my tube lipstick but I have used lip liners. I might try a plumping gloss.
Other than not completing my SRS, I have become totally a woman in every other way. In everyday life I do easily pass as a woman and my sexual gender has never been questioned. My husband and me both consider me a woman.
I feel for you I would only hope to be in your shoes someday. take care and best of luck !!!
Love the idea of make up background and full accent to the lip area rims. Performing allows me to push the boundaries of lip faux!

Lucille,
Though I don’t personally notice any plumping from the Sublime Lips product, I’ve always liked the product because it makes a nice lip gloss.
I liked the pink the best but unfortunately you don’t offer it anymore.
But I can make my own pink by doing the following:
1: I apply my favorite pink lipstick heavily to my lips BUT DO NOT BLOT.
2: Apply the Sublime Lips clear right over my un-blotted lipstick so the wand picks up the lipstick on my lips.
3: Return the wand to the bottle and swirl it around.
4: Run the wand over my lips again and return to the bottle and swirl.
Doing this a time or two gives me my PINK Sublime Lips that I like. 🙂
I just love the way sparkles make the lips look!
So this is where karma comes in! When I was growing up my lips were one of the things I was teased and bullied over (along with many other things!) because I always have had big plump ones. Now I’m transitioned instead of being bullied I’m told I have beautiful feminine lips complete with lovely Cupid’s bow, I guess there had to be some benefits to being intersex to start with!!!!
Hi Suzy.Wow you are so good looking.I just had to tell you that because its true you are Beautiful and youtful looking for your age.I really mean it from my heart
