Did you know that your body language makes up more than half of the impression you make on others?
That’s a big part of your feminine image as a crossdresser or transgender woman!
Body language comes down to four key elements: your posture, gestures, eye contact, and facial expressions.
Unfortunately, it’s easy to develop bad body language habits that can undermine a poised and polished appearance.
In this blog post, I’ll share 27 MTF body language mistakes to avoid when presenting yourself as a woman.
27 MTF Body Language Mistakes to Avoid for a Flawless Feminine Image
- Slouching
- Constantly checking your phone (this is a biggie!)
- Biting your nails
- Rummaging through your purse
- Crossing your arms
- Fidgeting
- Shaking your leg or tapping your fingers
- Not smiling
- Scanning the room while speaking with somebody
- Talking too much with your hands
- Exaggerated nodding
- Examining your teeth or face in public
- Applying makeup in public (other than a quick swipe of lipstick)
- Resting your chin on your hands and elbows
- Sitting with your legs apart
- Clanging your silverware
- Avoiding eye contact
- Eye contact that is too intense
- A weak handshake
- Clenching your fists
- Standing too close to people
- Chewing loudly
- Talking while you eat
- Eating or drinking too fast
- Bending towards your food instead of bringing the food to your mouth
- Leaning forward too much
- Leaning back too much
Phew, that’s quite a list, isn’t it? Some of these might seem obvious, but let’s be real – we’ve all witnessed these behaviors in public!
Are you making any of these mistakes? If so, don’t feel bad. (I’ve had to work on some of these myself!) Instead, resolve to improve them.
For fun, do a “body language study” the next time you’re out in public. Notice the subtle actions that enhance or detract from people’s images.
Can you think of any other habits that should be added to this list?
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please share in the comments below.
Love,
Lucille

So, I have to share this. I had a great time out at the club a week ago friday. I went to Club One in Savannah. It was a Friday night. So, not too busy. I parked a few blocks away. If you know Savannah at all, you that you kind of have to. So, before going out I went to Ulta Beauty Salon outside of town and this wonderful MUA/Stylist did a killer job with my makeup. Anyway, the makeup, some black jeans and flats and a dusty rose top were what I wore to the club. I made a couple mistakes from this list like slouching a bit occasionally and crossed my arms once. But, Im pretty sure that I passed completely. I felt confident and looked … well look at the picture and judge for yourself. But, not out loud. I thought I looked pretty and I felt great. The guy behind the bar seemed to like me based on the shots that he kept giving. Great guy. (i’m not into guys) But, I took it as confirmation. I had the best time. These cues work ladies. I swear. Thanks so much Lucille. Hugs.
You look beautiful
I am trying to be more poise and elegant when i am out and about but at work i tend to be to ridgid i am trying to be more fem and sit properly ect
I personally love the summer! I love wearing sundresses when I’m out shopping and being accepted as just another woman doing her thing. I never seem to have a problem and it seems as I get older (72 now! Yikes!) to be accepted in public as a woman. I love it! Here I am today doing my thing. Fun stuff!
Suzy, thank you for sharing “doing your thing” an elegant pretty lady … out shopping
Meant to add this! Hope you like it!❤️
Agree with just about all of those except for rummaging in my handbag which is a necessity and spending time on phone which these days is almost a must
To pick up where I left off.
When I was growing up women like us had to be very cautious cuz if it were discovered that we were impersonating a woman it could be disastrous for oneself. So it depends on the room; like how many people are in the room as to where I might be looking around the room a lot or not and that would also be while talking to someone. I have always passed as a female so I have never had to deal with an anti LBGTQ person while as a woman. If I am in an empty room I stay focused on the person I am talking to.
I have known many cis women that use their hands while talking. I try to keep my elbows at my side when I am using my hands and not flail my arms about. I will nod my head but not exaggerated. Slightly from side to side for something negative and up and down for something positive.
I do pull out my compact from my purse to use the mirror to check my teeth especially after eating. I will also check my makeup and it is natural for a woman to hold her compact in one hand and tube of lipstick in the other. Women and lipstick have a strong bond between them, ya know!
I sit with my legs together or crossed. Usually my right knee over the top of my left knee. But I must admit that I like to show off a bit and my dress is just long enough to cover my stocking welts when standing but when I sit I do like some of the welt to be exposed and even maybe show a garter clip attached to the welt.
A handshake does not have to be like 2 Marines or construction workers meeting but a woman does not have a John Wayne handshake either. I do not want to give myself away by too strong of a handshake.
I do like to bend forward slightly when eating cuz I have cleavage especially when wearing a push up bra and being the woman that I am I like to display it a bit. I do notice men and women too that do gaze at my cleavage and boobs.
Very nice
I love ❤️ your feed back, Hi!! Personally I don’t let ANYONE, dictate what I wear or don’t. CiCi’s Fashion is a part of WHO She\I am. My Number one rule is do I Like it, do I find myself Sexy\Hot in it? A Man finding me Sexy\Hot in it is just a Nice plus.
I hate to ask you ladies, but I tried on another dress today that the sales lady said looked very good on me. I’d like your opinion. What do you think of this one? Again, this is for a big party event I am attending this weekend. Is it too much for a 72 year old woman? Thanks! Suzy
